Do you ever wonder how ratings are calculated when everyone has a DVR, or what the longest running sitcom was or how Cop Rock ever made it on TV? I do. I wonder all that. And I wonder a lot of other things, too, and then I try to find the answers.
I’m a media scholar by hobby and education, having received a BA from USC in communication (with a focus on entertainment, media and society) alongside a minor in cinema/television. Later I went on to get a master’s in Media, Culture and Communication at NYU. All the while I’ve watched a lot of television, and perused a lot of the Internet trying to find connections between and within the history, technology, culture and industry of television and the world at large. I made this blog so I could have a place to collect my discoveries.
If you’re interested in similar things, I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a comment. And if you have any questions about the small screen, such as what was the first time a giraffe appeared on television, or how exactly does PBS work, feel free to ask, and I’ll try my best to get to the bottom of it.
